100 Years of Op Shops in Australia – and a New Beginning in Westgarth 🎉

This year marks a remarkable milestone: op shops have been part of Australian life for 100 years. Since the very first stores opened in the 1920s, op shops have been places of generosity, sustainability, and unexpected treasure-hunting. They’ve supported countless community causes, kept goods out of landfill, and brought people together through the simple joy of giving and finding something special.

Here in Westgarth, we’re proud to carry that tradition forward with our very own Westgarth Op Shop. Though we’re a new addition to this 100-year story, our shelves are already filled with the same community spirit that has defined op shopping across the country for a century. Every donation and every purchase continues this legacy of care, connection, and sustainability.
