Stern words (21 June)

We have a long and wide-ranging gospel this week (from Matthew, Chapter 10). Jesus makes stern pronouncements about how his followers should conduct themselves. God’s close knowledge of each of us down to the very hairs on our heads is incredibly affirming.

This week my sermon will focus on Jesus’ purpose in using metaphor to assist us in our learning. I will also examine symbolism and its role in worship.

Parish Council met this week and has taken time to review our Mission Action Plan. Our current period of transition is an ideal time to revisit this statement and to consider service times and other matters. We now have a clear Mission Statement that is community facing while also guiding all of our internal activities.
