In the wilderness (22 February)

We’ve launched into Lent after a busy few days. Much is written and spoken about abstinence during the upcoming weeks. I hope you are able to take some time to think deeply about your walk with God. The theme for my sermon this week is Wilderness. We begin our journey of preparation for Easter by thinking about Jesus’ time in the wilderness after his baptism, as told in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 4. I will reflect on Jan Richardson’s blessing titled Beloved Is Where We Begin.

After a very hot day we gathered for pancakes on Shrove Tuesday evening. It was a lovely time of feasting and fellowship. And our first Thursday Lenten discussion will begin after the Eucharist on 26 February (details are on the Services page). There is also a Wednesday evening time for bible reading and reflection, beginning in March. I hope that one of these offerings may provide you with a way to structure your Lenten discipline.
