Hearing God’s voice (13 July)

Another week has disappeared! I had occasion this week to link back to my Ignatian discipline as I prepared for Carer’s Corner and the Sermon. What an interesting phenomenon it is to weave together prayer, study, and the stuff that makes up daily life in the parish. God walks before us, encouraging us and offering glimpses of the ineffable. I stumble along as I clarify the message that emerges for the week.

Our gospel this week (found in Luke, Chapter 10) is the Good Samaritan. We might assume we’ve heard it before, so it has little to offer. I’ve had to spend time listening deeply to the theme of multiple voices in this story. It is God’s voice that calls to us from the roadside or ditch. How can we possibly hear it afresh? This is the quest I will unpack this week.
