Are you the one? (14 December)

Advent activities are well under way as our Christmas choir begins rehearsing! Our Blue Christmas gathering was deeply moving and our watered prayers and reflections are now buried in the earth and under God’s watchful eye at St James.

This week our gospel focuses on John the Baptist’s question: “Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?” This question echoes down through the ages and prompts us to examine our individual response to the coming of the Lord. My sermon focuses on the concept of prayer as a way of knowing that we are living in the Kingdom of God.

I do hope that you are finding some time for reflection during Advent. It can be a time of increased busyness. It is easy to miss the gift of this season as we feel it brush past us!
