A bitter-sweet journey (29 March)

Here we are on the brink of Holy Week and we celebrate on Palm Sunday with a procession of palms. Our weeks of preparation are behind us as we move towards  the Triduum. It is always an interesting exercise to look back over experiences and insights that have emerged over Lent.

A need to restrict petrol consumption may well spoil Easter plans, but that seems a minor inconvenience against the backdrop of aggression in the Middle East. I can’t help but wonder how God views the desire for power and aggrandisement demonstrated by some world leaders. Jesus came into the world to show us how to love. How miserably we fail on that count!

The story of the Passion gives us an opportunity to focus our attention on our faith. Holy Week is a serious journey that is bitter-sweet.
